As the impact of COVID-19 is felt across the globe, we are updating our protocols to address every aspect of our business so that our workplace, our people, and our clients are safeguarded. As such, Nichols has implemented measures to mitigate potential risk so that we can continue to deliver support to our clients.
Our offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Whitecourt, and Saskatoon remain open. Effective March 16, 2020, project-related staff have been requested to work from home to ensure social distancing. Our firm’s IT infrastructure allows for our staff to work seamlessly from home. Field-related activities will continue, with a focus on ensuring the safety of site representatives and field staff. A new hazard to address the COVID-19 virus will be identified on our field-level hazard assessments (FLHAs) and measures to reduce the risk of exposure will be implemented.
We have placed a moratorium on all in-person client meetings and large-scale special events/conferences. All our staff are encouraged to use video conferencing wherever possible. Restrictions have also been imposed on business travel.
The COVID-19 outbreak remains a very fluid situation. Nichols’ senior management team will continue to work closely with our staff and clients to stay on top of developments in the spread of the virus. Our actions are being guided by the advice of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Canadian/Alberta public health authorities.
